Los Angeles, CA– (June 12th, 2025) – In true “Lynchian” style, Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies (TCM), the ultimate destination for Hollywood memorabilia auctions, has taken one of the most prized possessions of the visionary auteur David Lynch–his personalized director’s chair–on a five day mystery tour in Los Angeles from June 12-16, 2025 that will culminate at its final destination–the highly anticipated “THE DAVID LYNCH COLLECTION” a live auction event taking place Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at the Peninsula Beverly Hills in Los Angeles and online at juliensauctions.com
The tour kicked off today Thursday, June 12th at the iconic Winkie’s Diner, a key location in David Lynch’s magnum opus Mulholland Drive, located at 1016 W El Segundo Blvd, Gardena, CA 90247.Although the real diner (Caesar’s in Gardena, CA) is closed, the location’s building and dumpster seen in the film’s terrifying scene where two men confront a sinister force from a nightmare still remain.
Much like Lynch’s surrealist oeuvre that leaves fans unsettled and stirring their imaginations, a trail of clues on Julien’s Auctions and TCM’s social media content has the public guessing the chair’s next locations and the Lynch inspired references behind their destinations. Each tour stop of the director’s chair will be unveiled and viewable on Julien’s live stream on YouTube from 8am-12pm Pacific Time.
Clues can be found for its next location Friday, June 13 and other stops on its tour on Julien’s Auctions Instagram.
The red leather director’s chair emblazoned with David Lynch’s name on the back (estimate: $5,000 – $7,000) is the centerpiece of a remarkable collection of over 450 items from the home of the influential and singular auteur, who changed modern cinema with his renowned films Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive, Eraserhead, The Elephant Man, and Blue Velvet. Personal artifacts and film-related items from the home of the legendary filmmaker, acclaimed musician, visual artist, designer, author and actor including props, musical instruments, fine art, furniture, home decor, tools from his home woodshop, paint supplies from his home art studio, and more will be offered in this exclusive auction tribute.
