Following a celebrated run in theaters nationwide, LEARNING TO FLY, the documentary from Unreasonable Studios and Chris Hemsworth and Ben Grayson’s Wild State, will make its global streaming debut on Amazon Prime Video on September 24, 2026.
Produced by Unreasonable Studios, LEARNING TO FLY documents former competitive runner turned photographer Aisha McAdams as she embeds with elite trail runners – including Jim Walmsley, Rod Farvard, and Eszter Csillag – across two of the sport’s most punishing tests: the Western States Endurance Run in the mountains of Eastern California and the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) in the French Alps. Running once gave Aisha a sense of freedom, joy, and belonging, before trauma and mental health challenges pulled her away from the sport she loved. Immersed once again among elite athletes, she begins to wonder whether she might find her way back and ultimately decides to take on an ultra-marathon of her own.
LEARNING TO FLY had its world premiere at the 2025 Telluride Film Festival before opening in theaters across the country this August, including runs in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco. The film is directed by Max Lowe (Torn, Camp Courage), with Academy Award winner Evan Hayes (Free Solo) and Katy Chevigny (Dick Johnson Is Dead) producing. Ben Grayson, Kevin Joseph, and Andy Mininger of Wild State executive produce.
