(June 3, 2025, Los Angeles) – This Summer, Vidiots is excited to welcome you to Movie Den, a tween and teen-centric matinee repertory series in our MUBI Microcinema, with programming focused on engaging, delighting, and inspiring the next generation of film lovers. Support comes from Vidiots’ Founding Members and longtime supporters MUBI and Golden Globe Foundation.
Running June 16 through August 27, Movie Den offers curated afternoon screenings every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 1PM, showcasing seminal coming-of-age stories and classic titles (including Rear Window, Good Burger, The Half of It, and Hairspray (1988)) in a cozy and welcoming setting. These are the films that shape us, gather us together, and make us fall in love with the movies. Thanks to Movie Den program supporters MUBI and Golden Globe Foundation, tickets will be priced at $2 (a call-back to the Eagle Theatre’s pricing of yesteryear) and popcorn will be on the house! Parallel programs, giving teens and tweens expanded opportunities to learn about Vidiots, will be offered before and after screenings. Stay tuned for related announcements coming soon!
Movie Den builds on Vidiots’ nearly 40-year legacy as L.A.’s most beloved independent video store and legendary film hub. “As a Mom to teens, and a member of a community that has been through so much this year, it was important to me and our team, that we try to make what we know will be a hard Summer for so many a little easier by expanding programming with an intention to get us out of the house, off devices, and reconnected. When I was a teenager, the movies were my sanctuary, and our kids (and their grown-ups) need that now more than ever. We can’t wait to welcome you all to Movie Den.” – Maggie Mackay, Vidiots Executive Director.
Vidiots’ commitment to engaging teens will also expand this Summer through a partnership with TeenTix LA, an organization that breaks down the barriers that prevent teens from accessing art in our community, from ticket prices to accessing information and navigating transportation. Geared especially towards kids who don’t already have champions of the arts in their lives, TeenTix LA invites ANY teenager (13-19 years old) to sign up for a free TeenTix Pass at la.teentix.org/-sign-up to access $5 tickets at their 35+ arts/cultural partners
