A Cat and Dogs In Haute Couture Take Over New York Fashion Week

Fashionable Dogs Take Over New York Fashion Week at the Anthony Rubio Fashion Show

Anthony Rubio Women’s Wear & Canine Couture featuring Men’s Wear at New York Fashion Week

Anthony Rubio presented his Spring/Summer 2026 collection, the feel-good show of the season. With the world in flux, audiences welcomed a reason to smile… or let out a collective “Aww.” High fashion and adorable pets proved to be just the combination people needed. Sixteen models, accompanied by fifteen dogs and one cat, strutted down the “dog walk” to tremendous applause.

From Anthony Rubio:

For my Spring/Summer 2026 collection, created for both canines and humans, I drew inspiration from the words resilience and opulence. In a world currently marked by turmoil and uncertainty, I wanted to offer an alternate vision, one that revisits fashion’s ability to uplift, to express joy, confidence, and timeless luxury. This collection is my response to the times: a celebration of beauty, strength, and the enduring human (and animal!) spirit.

Fashion has always walked in step with history, reflecting the highs and lows of everyday life. With this collection, I aimed to remind us all of our innate resilience and the power of presentation. What we choose to wear, and how we wear it, speaks volumes. It’s armor, expression, and often, a declaration of hope.

For the canine and yes, that one delightful feline, models, I chose ultra-light brocades infused with metallic filaments. The palette featured a balance of earth tones and soft, luminous blues and pinks, each shade representing the elements: earth, wind, water, and fire. The lightness of the fabrics allowed for voluminous designs that moved gracefully without being restrictive, letting our four-legged friends prance and play freely. I especially loved creating ball gowns for the female models watching them frolic in the gowns reminded me of little girls twirling in party dresses.

The human garments echoed this spirit. I worked primarily with light, sculptural textiles, and explored corsetry for the first time. I was so pleased with the results that corsets became a signature throughout the collection. Paired with long, pale iridescent skirts, the looks shimmered and flowed with a kind of liquid elegance down the runway. From structured cocktail dresses to sweeping evening gowns, each ensemble exuded confidence and quiet glamour.

Together, the human and animal pairings created a runway experience that was joyful, unapologetically bold, and deeply affirming.

I always strive to give my audience something to look forward to. Over time, my Fashion Week presentations have come to be known as “The Feel-Good Show” and I truly believe we lived up to that name once again.
