IS GOD IS premiered on April 27 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, bringing together cast, filmmakers, and guests to celebrate the film’s debut.
Stars Kara Young and Mallori Johnson were joined by co-stars Vivica A. Fox, Erika Alexander, and Janelle Monáe, alongside writer-director Aleshea Harris and producers Tessa Thompson, Kishori Rajan, and Riva Marker. Additional attendees included composers Moses Sumney and Joe Shirley, as well as cultural tastemakers such as Naturi Naughton, Bevy Smith, Colson Whitehead, and Brandon Blackwood.
The film follows two sisters on a revenge-driven journey shaped by a complex family history, marking the directorial debut of Aleshea Harris and adapting her award-winning play for the screen.
