Lockhart: Unleashing the Talisman

starring David A. Lockhart, Lina Bubisa, Vanessa Angel

directed by Rocky Collins

How do you describe this low-budget thriller? I’ll give you two words…God-Awful. And it’s a true story too! But this “true story” plays out with the quality of a B-grade porn film, minus the strong sexual content. This TV mush could have used the heat.

We open with our lead character Jon(David A. Lockhart) tied to a chair, taking a serious beating by some admirably fake punches, the attackers demanding information about Lockhart. Sound bad ass? Think again. The “Cheese-Effect” will take you over right away, only getting worse from there as we reverse in time and watch Jon unravel the mystery of a ancient crystal he inherits, leading him to dive into the secrets of the Lockhart mystery, and eventually tied to that chair. An urban Indiana Jones? The filmmakers wish. Oh, and try not to laugh during the chase and fight sequences.

Look, I’m all for artistic-ambition. But no one seems to have their hearts and heads in this thing. From the low-grade camera work and effects, to the lame-brain script and score, all while the actors carry a “what the fuck am I doing here?” nuance, the only thing this film uncovers is how fast something promising can go so bad. A swing…and a miss.
