PBS HOSTS FOUR-PART EVENT SERIES LEADING UP TO KEN BURNS’ BENJAMIN FRANKLIN

Conversations on Franklin Explores Founding Father’s Life as a Writer, Inventor, Diplomat and Revolutionary

Burns and Guests Discuss How to Look at America’s Founding

The series, which will include experts from the film and other scholars, along with American diplomats, will explore Franklin’s life as a writer, inventor, diplomat and revolutionary.  Burns and guests will also focus on the importance of Franklin and the founding to an understanding of the country’s history, including issues around race, freedom and representation that we are dealing with today.

Each event will take place at 7:00 p.m. ET. The event schedule is:

Thursday, March 3 Franklin and Writing, in partnership with WGBH and The Boston Globe. Featuring Ken Burns, Christopher Brown (Columbia University), Jane Kamensky (Harvard) and moderated by Bina Venkataraman, Editor-at-Large, The Boston Globe

Tuesday, March 8 Franklin and Innovation, in partnership with WNET.  Featuring Ken Burns, Walter Isaacson, Stacy Schiff and moderated by Stephanie Mehta, Chief Content Officer, Mansueto

Wednesday, March 23 Franklin and Diplomacy, in partnership with WETA and Georgetown University. Featuring Ken Burns, Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Nicholas Burns, Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, and moderated by Judy Woodruff of PBS NewsHour [NOTE THIS EVENT WILL BE PRE-RECORDED]

Tuesday, March 29 Franklin and Revolution, in partnership with WHYY. Featuring Ken Burns, Erica Dunbar (Rutgers), Walter Isaacson (Tulane) and moderated by Marly Moss Coane, Host and Executive Producer of Radio Times on WHYY.
