September 21, 2023—Dynamic musical duo SistaStrings—comprised of sisters Chauntee
and Monique Ross—won Instrumentalist of the Year at last night’s 2023 Americana Music Association Honors & Awards

The accolade adds to a breakout year for the duo, who have established themselves as a formidable force within the music community with their unique blend of classical training, soulful melodies and contemporary sounds. As members of Brandi Carlile’s touring band, SistaStrings have recently performed at iconic venues such as Madison Square Garden, The Kennedy Center, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Newport Folk Festival and on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” They have also performed alongside an eclectic array of artists including Joni Mitchell, Ed Sheeran, Maggie Rogers, Margo Price, Allison Russell and Jason Isbell. SistaStrings are currently writing for their upcoming project, which will be produced by Carlile.

The duo will also join Brandy Clark for select dates this fall including shows at Indianapolis’ Vogue Theatre, Chicago’s Thalia Hall, Minneapolis’ Cedar Cultural Center, Seattle’s Washington Hall, Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium and Los Angeles’ Troubadour among others. See below for complete tour itinerary.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Chauntee and Monique discovered their love for music at a young age. Growing up in a musically inclined family, the sisters were exposed to a diverse range of genres and instruments. Chauntee found her calling as a violinist, while Monique developed her skills as a cellist. Together, they embarked on a remarkable journey, fusing their classical training with their deep-rooted love for R&B, hip-hop, and gospel.
